Who We Are

Our organization’s leadership and contributors are people who have lived experience with severe & persistent mental illness and have

  • Received evidence-based training to support others with mental illness
  • Worked in the mental health field
  • Participated in cross-sector mutual aid efforts

The Nest is a program of Grassroots Groundwork and has been in operation serving greater Lansing, MI residents since spring of 2024.

We currently offer Peer Support and Community Health Worker services to residents of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties in Michigan. Our long term goal is to open a peer respite for adults to receive support in preventing crisis.

We want to open a Peer Respite where people can prevent the escalation of symptoms of their mental illness in a comfortable home-like setting.

Grassroots Groundwork has nonprofit status through its fiscal sponsorship with the Women’s Center of Greater Lansing, which means donations are tax deductible.
